Whether you’re dropping by for a solo dining experience or coming in with family, the atmosphere stays relaxed and welcoming.

The heart of this spot is its katsu-focused menu, which consistently earns positive reviews for flavor and balance. One standout is the Oroshi Katsu with Iberico, where the richness of Iberico pork is cut beautifully by light, refreshing toppings. It’s indulgent without feeling heavy. Traditionalists often lean toward the Tonkatsu, crisp on the outside and juicy inside, while the Katsudon Set delivers comfort in every bite, layering katsu with rice in a way that feels deeply satisfying.

Each dish feels thoughtfully portioned, making it easy to enjoy dessert afterward without feeling overdone.

Beyond the food, the restaurant’s services make it an easy choice for a wide range of diners. There’s a wheelchair-accessible car park and wheelchair-accessible toilet, which adds peace of mind and convenience. Families will appreciate the availability of high chairs, while solo diners can enjoy a calm, comfortable setup that never feels awkward or rushed. Dessert options round out the experience nicely, offering a sweet finish that complements the savory focus of the kitchen.

Overall, Kobuta & Ookami Katsu And Sake House stands out in Redmond for its consistency, approachable Japanese cuisine, and attention to guest comfort. It’s a place that feels reliable yet still leaves room for discovery, making repeat visits feel just as enjoyable as the first.

What customers say?

“ A katsu specialty restaurant with 2 locations in Seattle and Redmond. We visited the Redmond location on a weeknight. They don’t take reservations unless you have a group of 6+ so recommend getting here a little earlier if you don’t want to wait. We tried the miso katsu (kurobuta cut) and oroshi katsu (standard cut). The miso glaze had a slightly sweet flavor, my friend said it reminded her of bbq sauce? The oroshi set comes with grated daikon on top of the katsu so it’s more refreshing. Both sets come with rice and miso soup. The Kabocha croquette is really good - think this is a unique item that you don’t see very often at Japanese restaurants. The croquette had a fluffy texture on the inside and the skin had a cripy layer of panko crust. The portion was a good size for 2-3 people. They have some different ways of serving the katsu, would love to come back and try the nabe or curry option. ”

“ I went here because I wanted to try Iberico pork katsu. It's kind of pricey, but they make a solid katsu, presentation is really nice, they cut up the cabbage really fine and give you a generous amount (it really helps cut through the grease when paired with the lemon and pickled vegetables they give you). They don't sell takeout and the staff seems to be mostly Thai, so don't go in thinking you can practice your conversational Japanese. I went with my Thai aunt who doesn't speak English and we were pleasantly surprised. For parking, you may have to park across the street and cross over since their parking lot is tiny, and it quickly fills up and is rathet tight to manuever in. ”

“ Amazing food and enormous portions. I got the jidori katsu curry and the chicken was incredibly crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. I've never had katsu this good before. I rate this place 100 / 10 One thing to note, finding parking here can be a challenge. There's a parking lot outside but its usually full ”

“ Kobuta & Ookami is similar to Tendon Kohaku in the sense that it is casual Japanese dining with a focus on fried food. You'll most likely find it a lot easier getting a table here compared to Tendon, however. While Tendon specializes in tempura, Kobuta specializes in katsu, and the selection is quite vast. There's all sorts of pork and chicken katsu and the mince katsu is especially tasteful. I do wish the curry selection was slightly better. Word of warning: the parking situation here sucks. ”

“ Delicious Pork Katsu! The food was incredible and service was very nice. Some of the best Katsu I have ever had! My husband and 2 year old daughter loved the food! ”

“ The katsu here is honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. Kobuta & Ookami totally lives up to the hype—huge portions, super juicy and tender katsu, and really friendly service. Totally worth the wait in every way. I tried the Iberico pork katsu with mustard and pickles, the Kurobuta katsu with grated daikon, the chicken curry katsu, and the fried oysters. The Iberico was insanely tender without being too fatty or greasy. All the katsu had this perfect crunchy panko crust, and you can tell they use fresh oil for frying. The oysters were huge, crispy on the outside, and super juicy on the inside. The space is modern and clean. Expect to wait around 30 minutes to an hour, but it’s so worth it. Prices are on the higher side, but totally fair for the quality, portions, and experience. Kobuta & Ookami is officially my new go to. ”

“ A very cozy place with truly friendly and polite staff. They constantly make sure that guests feel comfortable, which is incredibly pleasant. We visited this place for the first time, but we will definitely come back again and will surely bring our friends. Everything was very delicious, with interesting and thoughtful presentation. ”

“ Katsu is in the name dude. It’s dope. Eat here you won’t be disappointed. It’s busy for a reason. Just a tiny bit spenny, but still solid ”
